Mental Health is Complex

Mental health is complex, and not everyone has the same understanding of what a healthy mind should feel like, especially for those who never had healthy models of physical and emotional well-being to look to. It often takes the words outside supporters — such as friends, family members, loved ones, and mental health professionals — for a person to become fully aware of how they’ve changed mentally, emotionally, or behaviorally. As there are many outside forces that may contribute to a person’s mental illness, there is no one-size-fits-all model for recognizing and treating mental health disorders. For some, it may take more time to understand the gravity of mental illness before they see a need to implement change and reach out for help.
